Our guy now has more dynamic posing like I said I'd do last week, along with subsurface scattering on the skin! It doesn't really gel well with a model this low-poly, but I figured I'd try it regardless. I've also added gouraud shading to the model as a whole that gives his upper torso and arms a more convincing turtleneck. All things considered, he's pretty scared now.
Now that I think about it, the models from Alone in the Dark were more advanced- though they were flat-shaded instead of gouraud, like mine is. All rendering was done purely in software with PC games back then, so I guess the CPUs of '92 weren't exactly up to that task.
